Welcome to Post 440, located in Newtown at 41 Linden Ave. Our meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month at 7:30p.m. in our hall.  We encourage veterans to join us and see what we are all about.  Want to join?  You can sign up at the meeting!!  We are an active post and welcome those who want to be a part of an organization with pride.  Visitors from other posts always welcome.  Use this map to find us!  If you want information on membership, send an email.

A Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established in Franklin Carver's name.  Donations can be mailed to Franklin C. Carver Sr. Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Don Marshall, PO Box 70, Newtown, PA 18940.

Membership in the American Legion is limited to veterans who served during the following periods:

Newtown Enterprise                                     December 1919

 Whereas, Lieutenant Morell Smith, having been an honored citizen of Newtown, and having entered the war against Germany in support of the highest ideals of justice and freedom, and with a keen sense of their meaning to his beloved country; and

Whereas, Lieutenant Morell Smith, having nobly fought, and having proven his deep devotion to his lofty principles by the supreme sacrifice upon the field of battle: be it therefore

Resolved, in recognition of this single-minded devotion, that this post be named The Morell Smith Post, Number 440, of Pennsylvania, of the American Legion; and be it

Resolved, As a token of our deep sense of loss and of our sincere sympathy with them, that a copy of this resolution be sent to the parents of the late lamented Lieutenant Morell Smith.
